Creamy Spiced Oats
Even though Winter is coming to an end now here in Australia, oats are still one of my favourite breakfast staples to have and I will definitely continue eating more oats throughout the warmer months too! One of my favourite ways to spice up (pun unintended) my oatmeal is to use beautiful spices like cinnamon, ginger and nutmeg! Try it out for yourself, I promise it will up your oatmeal game and you’ll never look back again.
CREAMY SPICED OATMEAL
Rich, creamy and so satisfying, this oatmeal recipe is such a great staple recipe to have on hand. This recipe is also loaded with good fats (from 3 different seeds) and is bound to keep you going all morning.
MAKES: 1-2 SERVES PREP: 5 MINS COOK: 5-10 MINS
1 cup quick oats
1 cup plant-based milk (Eg. Coconut, almond, cashew…)
1 cup water
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp nutmeg
1/2 tbsp hemp seeds **
1/2 tbsp flax seeds
1/2 tbsp chia seeds
Optional: Dash of maple syrup, to sweeten
Combine oats, milk, water, spices, hemp seeds, flax seeds and chia seeds into a saucepan.
Cook on medium heat and gently simmer until thickened to your desired consistency.
Remove from heat and stir in sweetener if desired.
Transfer into a bowl and add on your favourite toppings. Enjoy
