Golden Oats

If you follow me on Instagram you would have seen this breakfast all over my stories by now! I’ve been having this breakfast almost every single day & it is now hands down one of my favourite breakfasts to make now. It’s super satisfying, full of aromatic spices and a delicious and healthy option to kickstart your morning. I’m amazed to see how many of you are already loving this recipe, if you haven’t yet tried it, give it a go!


GOLDEN OATS

Believe me, this is a breakfast that you’re going to want to try. It includes a healthy dose of wholegrains, spices, seeds & you can also top it off with fresh fruit and nuts! I love this breakfast & hope you do too.

MAKES: 1-2 SERVES PREP: 5 MINS COOK: 5-10 MINS

INGREDIENTS:

  • 1 cup quick oats

  • 1 tsp turmeric (or halve it if you’re still not used to the taste. I personally quite like it, it’s just got an earthy taste to it and tastes great when paired with other spices like I’ve listed below)

  • 1 tsp ground cinnamon

  • 1/4 tsp ground nutmeg

  • 1 tsp ground ginger

  • Pinch of black pepper *

  • 1/2 tbsp hemp seeds **

  • 1/2 tbsp flax seeds

  • 1/2 tbsp chia seeds

  • 1 cup water

  • 1 cup almond milk

  • Dash of maple syrup to sweeten if desired

  • Toppings of your choice

METHOD: 

  1. Combine oats, spices, hemp seeds, flax seeds, chia seeds, water & almond milk into a saucepan.

  2. Cook on medium heat and gently simmer until thickened to your desired consistency.

  3. Remove from heat and stir in sweetener if desired. I prefer mine unsweetened as I love pairing it with fresh fruit!

  4. Transfer into a bowl and add on your favourite toppings. Enjoy x
